When Covid first hit and the grocery store shelves were empty of everything including eggs, it was time to invest in a flock of our own and build a coop. With the majority of the building materials salvaged from around the property, we were able to keep costs down and spent the equivalent of a night out on the town (dinner and drinks) for the pieces we didn't have on hand. Our coop houses 13 chickens giving us about a dozen fresh eggs daily.
